June is just around the corner. This is pretty exciting for me, as it marks my 20 year anniversary as a Dietitian. Being a Dietitian for the last twenty years has been a super ride. I certainly don’t regret my choice of career one little bit. I really have loved every minute of being a Dietitian.
I’ve been thinking a lot about how much I have learned from the last 20 years and thought I’d share the top 20 things I have learned in the last 20 years as a Dietitian.

Last week, I had the pleasure of trying these delicious cupcakes made by Nikki Broad, a student Dietitian due to graduate this mid year.
They are vegan, and for those just looking for egg or dairy free – these are your cupcakes!
I am often asked about cake recipes for kids with egg and dairy allergies, so was really pleased when Nikki said I could post her recipe here on AM Dietetics.
No added sugar juice - better for little teeth?

Looking after your children’s health is pretty high on the agenda for most parents.
Lately, I’ve seen and spoken to a lot of parents who are on the hunt for healthier snack and drink options. Trying to reduce sugar is the main aim; for overall health and for the protection of those little teeth.
Have you ever bought a “no added sugar” drink, thinking it is a better option for dental health? Well I’m sorry to say these are just as bad as the sugar laden drinks.

Well it’s better late than never as we have already had one whole day of 2014.
Have you decided on any resolutions? Does anyone ever keep these?
Here in the AM Dietetics household, we are’t doing resolutions but we are making a few changes that we know are realistic and will be long lasting.
Let's keep it Real people.

I’ve been having a look at a few food blogs, Instagram posts, tweets and recipes lately. Okay, yes, all the time if I’m honest. There seems to be a common thread which I’m starting to wonder about. A lot of these meals/recipes/shakes and “potions” seem to often have a “superfood” ingredient.
Mmm, let’s make a maca powder chia protein shake or a “green- powder” bowl with acai berries. Or maybe I could go for some coconut powder mixed with a scoop of protein in a high energy ball.
